alright, i know i'm 'only' 22 in the eyes of insurance companies i'm a menace.

but with 5 years NCB i think this takes the piss a little bit.

Masterati 3200 - £6,929.65

thats well over half the value of what you can pick these cars up for now!

i thought the Z4 was pretty bad at £1300.

i think i might buy motor trade insurance next renewal, i've heard its a cheap alternative to single car insurance.

A quote like that is normally just a "we dont really want your business, thank you"

Who have you tried? When I was getting silly quotes it was the Admiral group that were competitive with each other.

yes, the admiral group play silly buggers, they were offering just under £3,000 but as soon as you phone them it suddenly becomes £7,000.

they did the same with my Z4 quotes.

i might give Greenlight a try tomorrow and see what they say, more just out of interest at this point i think.

£1300 for a Z4 at 22 seems pretty reasonable to me.

I'm paying half that for a Passat estate at 27 with full NCB. Oh I forgot to mention the £500 excess yikes

Disgraceful!

If you're looking for ways to bring your premium down, up your excess and join an owners club- some insurers run discounts for club members. Also, it may be worth seeking out a specialist insurer for the Maser.

You might also try designating an older driver with a good insurance history (parent perhaps?) as a Named Driver.

Worth trying the Flux. They have just insured my TDI with a declared power output of 300bhp and an agreed value of £7.5k (worth in reality less than £2k) for £450. smile

try onecall (they are part of aviva)

I have a Boxster S and they charged me 2.2k for my insurance. Thats fully comp with all the optional extras (european, legal, windscreen, breakdown and so on..)

Oh and i forgot to mention that I was 19 when this policy started back at the start of feb (im 20 now with 3years no claims)

That does sound expensive, when I did a quote based on my details earlier this year for a DB9 it came out at about £5k. That with me being 20 and having 3 years ncb....

Good luck getting a better quote.

Just wait until your over 40 like me and then you can insure most cars for peanuts, trouble is, I can no longer afford to buy them.

I gave onecall a try as mentioned but they came back with £9,000.

i think if i decide to upgrade beyond the Z4 i will look at trade insurance, any idea if you need to register a company to be able to get it?
