Guys

I have just seen - for the second time this week - a free 20-30 minute display by the Vulcan bomber over Kemble area. It was also airborne on Thursday pm.

Im not sure if this info is of any use but if anyone appreciates this beast and is in the know it may be worth finding out when/if its going to be doing it again to get a free show.

It is awesome...but GOD do I wish I owned a proper camera instead of my dinky little digital effort banghead

Truly awesome

Graham

I think it lives there. I saw it whilst on a Porsche track day a few years back.

Just did a bit of a Google thing Dave and it looks as though it has been based at Lyneham for a while getting airworthyness.

It apparently took off from Brize today to go the RAF Waddingham air show later today (this pm) and then will fly back to Brize. I guess they used the 20 minutes or so over Kemble for some last minute run throughs of their routine before heading off to Lincolnshire.

Elegant would be the word to describe it!

There is a few lads on here from the RAF so hopefully they might be able to fill us in a little on the beast.

It was 2005 when I had the day at Kemble and from what I remember it was loud!!!

Only returned to flight in sept 2007 mate! Was at Kemble last year.
I must have the wrong plane? but there is a plane at Kemble that is privatly owned and very rare. We had to all stop whilst it came in to land but I remember the guys talking about it and saying it was very special.
Will have to look for it now....

Back in the air on Thursday after engine runs earlier in the week.
That would explain all the noise then - didn't sound like a Herc.

Saw it at Goodwood yesterday, brought a tear to my eye to see her in the air

Used to watch it at the local RAF base show (Flowerdown, RAF Locking) every year when I was a kid (passed one hell of a lot closer back then!)

The Vulcan is sitting outside my office window at the moment. It will be displaying here at RNAS Yeovilton on Saturday (providing it doesnt break down again)

Saw it at Goodwood last weekend, but also remember seeing a couple as a kid growing up in Norfolk as i used to live near a couple of raf bases. I also seem to remember one at duxford air display in the late nineties if I'm not mistaken?

clap What are you using- Ducted fans, or jet engines?

My old Warrant Officer was into that sort of stuff- between a few of his mates they built a big C130-K US Coast Guard replica.

Went up to Wroughton a couple of times to watch them fly it- they were chucking Action man off the cargo ramp.

From a distance, you wouldn't know the difference between a real one (flying further away & providing you can't hear the engines) or the RCP.

My step father is heavily into RC -

Used to make silent flight scale (Vega/ASW22/Etc) as his trade, now retired but he's flown RC (power and silent) since he was in his teens

Spent quite a while recently on power, but now seems to be back to the silent stuff - very talented chap
