Just a warning for anyone advertising a car on PH Classifieds, or in fact anywhere else on line.

Please Please make sure you remove the registration plate details and don't provide any key information other than basic info in the advert.

I have just had a fake claim alledged against me and almost certainly the registration details and car description where obtained from the PH Classified. They also I believe obtained my name from my PH members profile. Unsuprisingly the claim is also for personal injury meaning the claimed amount is quite significant.

The claim is for an accident that I was not involved in and indeed my car is without any damage so its something I am going to have to fight and no doubt will rumble on - but for a 30 second job to remove the details it is really not worth putting your reg plate on line.

I've just joined this forum for one reason.

I just had this happen to me, it's not resolved yet either.
Apparently i rear ended someone 300 miles away from where i live, and i've never been to that place in my life, i wont give details away.
They are trying to sue for personal injury of almost a quarter of a million.

I have proof of being in my home town, i have photos, food receipt, also an event ticket for the day after (alleged accident on 27th, i have ticket for 28th-30th), and also an mot 3 days after the alleged accident.

I cant get insured on anything else, as theres an ongoing claim, so it means no bike or car.
I have sold the car on as it was up for sale on here with the reg plates on show. (the insurance guy said this was ok to sell the car with the ongoing claim)

I have sent photos to the insurance company as they asked showing the car was ok.

Heard nothing back.
Spent over an hour on the phone yesterday with one "dropped" call, and one hung up at 5pm on the dot and didnt even help.

I will name and shame soon if this doesnt get sorted.

I think you have just emailed me. Have replied and we can compare notes. Might be the same insurer - I'm not yet convinced that this isn't someone that works for my insurer on the fiddle either!

Sorry to hear your news - almost identical situation to me. It sickens me that people will do this.

Hi, nope no emails from you.
I don't really know how this forum works at the moment, do they do private messages and an inbox?

Re-sent - should appear in whatever inbox/email you registered here. Perhaps it was a friend of yours that emailed me? I have had an email from Ben? If its not you then it looks like there are 3 of us that have been caught. I'd like to put together a list of the dodgy claims and submit them to our insurers to try and help rap this up as the Police have suggested its probably one gang.
