Hi All, second day running heading west towards Bristol I've seen mobile speed camera van on the bridge just after J17 near Leigh Delamere West Moto Services.

Also bridge after this (further towards J18) 3 x cameras (1 covering each lane) on tripods. Appeared to be linked together and cables going into a van parked about 20 metres away out of view, just off the bridge (obscured by hedges / trees). Hope this is ANPR or similar as first time (wednesday) wasn't paying attention when I realised it was police equipment and may have been a little heavy on the right foot approaching.......bugger!

Seems to be a lot of interst in Westbound traffic around this area?

Can't remember a time on the M4 down that section when I haven't seen a mobile camera van on one of the many bridges during working hours and weekend daytimes. They are never there early morning or late evening

Plus it's hippy holiday time, Glastonbury starts today etc

I just stick it into cruise at 70 through there now, it's too easy to get caught otherwise.

If I was being cynical I'd say the holiday season must be upon us......

M4 camera van is out most days along with the various unmarked units. Saw one stop a biker this week. See them with cars stopped most days.

M5 around Michaelwood (Southbound) had an ANPR op on Thurs which ran into the late evening. Was great following a load of people all doing 70ish who stood on the brakes because they saw the ANPR cams plus the 50 in 3/4 mile sign. wkERS!

Cameras and van = ANPR.

Precisely.

Van (unmarked) to one side of the overbridge at Leigh Delamere. Three separate cameras set up, one for each lane.

Two traffic cars sitting on the hard shoulder a couple of miles further on.

WTF does almost everybody on here immediately assume speed camera the second they see an operation going on, when being a little bit more observant when driving the road could save them writing a paragraph or two? smile

And as for Yertis and setting cruise control at 70 - I hope you are out of the way in the slow lane biggrin

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/gloucestershire/10419071.stm apparently came from an ANPR stop.

Yeah saw those last week. Most likely looking for drug dealers heading to glasto. I thought it was good of them to make them obvious. One set were very high and yellow. Saw them from a good distance away. There appears to be a fixed anpr camera site just after LdM services heading towards Bristol. I think that these still need to be connected to a car though as I have seen an estate car on the bridge with wires trailing down to the hard shoulder on the motorway.
