Does anyone recall some run what you brung sessions being run on an old air stip on the Devon/Somerset border - at Churchstanton I think.

This would be going back a couple of years. I didn't go but think some fellow PHers did and wondered if this was still happening....

I have a newly acquired 4.3V8 burning a hole in my Levis...

Yeah - It was the "Streetnights" events run on the Dunkeswell flats somewhere up north of Honiton. That 1/8 mile cooked my first kevlar clutch after two runs. Locals kicked up a stink and it got banned through the courts (only took about 2 people who lives about a mile away to shut it down!.....) so now Streetnights just operates using Shakespeare Raceway and Santa Pod. Nothing local like that is expected again anytime soon, which to be honest, is GUTTING frown

This is what I was thinking of - shame it got banned - another victory for the NIMBY's....

Shame, as it was a great event bar the crap music that was constantly pumped out, perhaps that what offended the yokels?

No it was more the wkers that decided to keep on racing once they had left the venue more than the noise the venue created. I just dont understand why people needed to speed through a village when theyve spent the day racing...
