I know it's Easter Sunday, but that's just another reason to dust off the weekend special and head on over to AV8 at Kemble for a hearty breakfast and car-oriented chat.

The cafe has a function type of thing on at lunchtime, so we're aiming for a 9am meet.
There's a pay and play 4x4 day at nearby Minety if anyone wants to come in an offroader and join me in the mud afterwards.... ooh er!

Anyway... names

What's the 4x4 day about? Not done one before but would like to give the Landcruiser a work-out.

Which weekend are we talking here?

We're talking Easter Sunday the 4th April, planning on a PH breakfast meeting at AV8 cafe at Kemble Airfield and then I'll be heading off to Minety, it's pretty much exactly what you said, a chance to use your 4x4 as intended.
I've just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I want to do exactly the same - my car's completely road standard, so I won't be able to do anything too serious, but the Minety site has stuff for all levels for about 20 quid for the day.
They have a website at www.minety4x4.co.uk

If you're really keen and want a real basic starter off-road day then there's a day at Foxham on 21st March (www.foxham4x4.co.uk) I'll be at that one as well.

I'm a maybe and if there, will head over to Minety afterwards... but as the Caterham isn't all that good offroad (although can be fun on grass hehe) I'll stick with going to my Aunt's for lunch.

Hopefully will confirm one way or the other later this week.

You could have some fun at Mintey with standard road tyres, but you will be fairly limited depending on how wet it is. It will also depend on how much you care for your paint work.
You may be able to get through one of the woods if you arent worried about knocks and scratches and obviously you should be fine around the tracks and fields, but i wouldn't attempt any of the dug out bits and i'll be surprised if you manage to get over a mound.

Last time I went in a td5 defender with road tyres and even that struggled a bit as it does get pretty cut up if there are a lot of people, it was pretty wet when i went though.

Its a good place for a bit of a piss about followed by a nice few pints in a local pub!

Here's a pic of one of my friend's landys last time we went, dont attempt going in this bit, we couldn't get it out with two landys and had to call someone in with a winch

We're hoping to be there - nice breakfasts at Kemble and well worth the trip.
