Can you help???

Recomendations required for a nice pub serving food for Saturday evening within the vicinity of Lechlade.

Preferably within 5 miles...

Thanks in advance.

The traditional local "pub grub" places in Lechlade have all gone a bit posh in recent years sadly. IMO of course.

Suggest The Lamb in Burford, a few miles north

I've only heard very good things about Colley's - though haven't been myself.

I've heard so many good things about that place - still want to go and try it.

Colleys well worth a visit. Only one sitting in the evening. Lots of courses and double helpings for desert. Go on an empty stomach.

Also worth a look...

The Swan at Southrop, or
The New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns, and
The Five Alls at Filkins

That's the place I was thinking of above. Only went there once, never again. I'm not ashamed to admit that my pallet is decidedly "blue collar", for want of a better term. The food in Colleys wasn't so much "rich" or "posh", just not what I would class as good .... far from it.

What about The Trout? Not been for a few years but it was always very nice, basic, but nice.

I have not been to Colleys since it changed hands. Food was ok and around £30 / head iirc and rather interesting dining experience culminating in the pudding parade! There is a pub across the road that is now an Italian and I have heard good things about. Drinking wise there is a pub next to Colleys called the crown that has its own micro brew out back – well worth a visit for a beer.

5 miles ish towards Swindon is town called Highworth and I really recommend Jesmonds as a place to eat. It’s a little more expensive that Colleys but the quality of food and service justifies the price imo. There is also a good curry house in Highworth (Rafus) and a selection of pubs that serve food. I would recommend The Fox followed by the Saracens head if you are after a food pub in Highworth.

Do you live there? Highworth is going to be my local. The Indian on the High Street next to The Cellar and the hardware shop is excellent, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.

I can't wait to move back biggrin
