As I'm currently renovating my house, I am having to part with the Alfa because it's not much good at the B&Q run.
I decided to replace it with a Grand Cherokee, as I had one briefly many years ago and enjoyed it, so have just picked up this

She's a 99T 4.7 V8 Limited with 52k on the clock and all the trimmings

It's not a very PH vehicle, but will be smileyed none the less.

I like it! Has the Alfa been sold already then?

Nope, I need to transfer the plate and then she'll be gone.
She had a service and new brakes yesterday and passed the MOT today, so she's ready.

I'm home next week so will get some adverts up then.

Tidy looking truck.

Just bought a HiLux Surf myself which will have smileys in the rear side windows soon although it is used to tow to track days!

Looked at a Grand Cherokee too, right old dog but my budget must've been more limiting!!

I bought this one sight unseen as I'm in West Africa right now, a friend went and collected it for me this morning... it's pretty clean apparently, although there's a few minor niggles tot sort as there always is with a new car.

I think the seller underpriced it a little though as his phone was ringing off the hook apparently.

That does sound like you got a bargain, not many out there so well done!

I ended paying what I think is pretty much the going rate for my truck but it's quite tidy, fairly low miles (if you believe the odo) and the rare "G" top of the range model so I'm happy.

To be realistic, I would've been lookiing at a 4.0 straight six Cherokee which isn't a good engine the V8 is much better.

We looked at one that had a twin exit, straight through stainless system on it, apparently the "woofle" was rather special!
Sadly it had sold by the time I got round to making a decision.

I do so few miles nowadays that the extra thirst of the 4.7 as opposed to the 4.0 isn't really relevent, I figured why not have the big lump.

I think economy might be a little scary on a spirited PH run though!

Sounds pretty sweet to me, got the old V8 side-to-side shimmy as he gives it some revs as well.

Apparently it averaged 18mpg on the 71 mile motorway run home, but I assume that's US mpg, which makes it about 22mpg UK

Mrs006 had one of these briefly last summer. A nice enough car, but 13mpg (uk) got a bit wearing after a few months.

Nowhere near as competent or nice to be in as a RangeRover but so much cheaper.

Yep, I kind of agree regarding the Rangie... I've had both a 3.9 classic and recently a 4.6 HSE and both were wonderful places to be and lovely to drive, but mechanically they were terrible and I seldom got the 4.6 into double figures MPG wise.
I would have loved another, but they're not a car you can buy sight unseen as there's so many little things to check on them. The WJ series of Cherokee are (with the exception of rear diffs and heater matrices) a little less prone to mechanical maladies.

To be honest, at the cost of this one, if it turns out to be a lemon then I'll just use it as an off-road toy.
