Hi Guys,

Am competeing tomorrow in the Weston Rallysprint but desperate to get hold of about 40 litres of 102 fuel. Does anyone know of any Shell/BP pumps locally or does anyone have any I can buy off them?

Good luck to all competitors this weekend in whatever event you are doing.

Cheers guys.

If you can't get hold of racing fuel, could you not just get tesco/shell super + an octane booster from halfords or wherever?

That might be the last resort! However the mapping on the car is fairly precise.

I think the best thing you can get around here- from the pumps is 99 (Optimax & Tesco 99)

Worth a read if anyones interested.

Might be worth asking the filling station when the last time they had a delivery. Can't imagine they'd shift that much due to the astronimical price of 102- so it may be old fuel anyway & not perform as good as fresh 99.

If the map is fairly precise & the car is running close to the limit, I wouldn't want to put a random octane booster in the tank.

Good luck with the sprint!

What car is it? I'm imagining an Evo or similar.

Some performance car specialists may have some 102 - I saw a garage with a few Shelbys etc and they all had race-spec pumps.

That or maybe a circuit such as Castle Combe may hold stock, but unless they have a fair turnaround, I'd be worried about quality.

Personally I've not seen BP Ultimate 102 outside of London, but hope you find some, otherwise if your map is on the edge you'll have a tough choice on whether to risk tesco 99 or simply not race.

Appreciate the comment about boosters, but if you do risk 99 then adding a booster to a tankful should at least help reduce the risk, not add to it!

I've only ever needed 99 in my cars and swear by tesco, as did the tuners of my previous 635hp s/c VXR8, but NOS Octane Booster claims to add up to 7 points, so on top of tesco 99 may not be that bad a risk.

afraid castle combe dont supply their own fuel, they have a petrol station just outside the entrance which supply 99ron and its very expensive!

i've heard mixing shell v-power with morrisons 95 somehow increases octane rating but i have no idea how.

shell & tesco defo aupply 99 RON in bristol but no idea where you are going to find 102, sorry!
