Both our cars are covered in tree sap spots that are a PITA to shift so I need some recommendations. The local Poles can't shift them so I need someone who's prepared to put a bit of effort in with the right product.

It's Luckyluciano who does a bit of detailing work. He did Pulse's car.

You also have Jimboturbo and Dannytherev but they're both over the bridge - not sure if they will travel.

TheDetailDoctor can probably recommend someone in Bristol.

Who?

Cheers guys, I'm not sure I need a detailer's level of, er, detail. Will they accept I only want a decent clean rather than flawless paintwork?

I don't want to take business away from anyone, but have you tried claying the car?

You can get a Meguiars clay and spray kit from Halfords for about £15. Clean the car, spray on the stuff and then rub the clay over the car. Nice smooth finish.

Yep. The only thing that works is tar remover and a plastic scraper and even that takes a while.

I've seen it, and it's nasty stuff frown - clay wont get rid.

Aww shucks, cheers for the mention guys smile

If it is a less than a detailing style finish that is required I know a chap who can probably help. He works with me but also runs his own valeting company - the results won't be as good, but the costs will be lower!

Removing tree sap can be a complete pain (although not as bad as railway sparks from a brand new white S3 - mmm, that was fun). There are some pretty amazing solvents available but it sounds more like a claying job. The only thing i would say is that claying is best followed by a heavy cleanse or light polish as it usually leaves some light marring (no matter how careful you are) - this is a bit beyond valeting and depends on how particular you are about the finish.

Was due a further sound upgrade, but sadly denied - I think the point it actually made my brother jump while he was driving behind us the other day and Lisa decided to nail it re-engaged my sensible hat! Still, there is always a new custom map to save for evil

Might need a more aggressive clay - but that really will need a follow up heavy cleanse/light polish.

Have removed worse so it is do-able.

Bill if you want to email through here or contact me via my website then if you are in the Bristol area I can always get somebody to inspect it for free (no-obligation).

Thanks Ed. Actually that reminds me, I still have it in mind to bring my car up for you guys to do a photo studio session at some point - just need some nice weather (and spare time).
