it has become the "in thing" for chavs and F1 wannabes to overtake people on the outside of the A4018 (Falcondale Road) through Westbury on the off camber left hand corner with the junction of Greystoke Avenue. its happened to me twice in the last week during daylight... if you are turning right onto Greystoke, give plenty of notice and if you are staying left, keep left and close to the kerb, if you are approaching from the other direction, obviously be cautious.

Overtaking on the actual bend? That is rather retarded.

I must admit, I've once come round the corner and overtook a really slow car on the straight bit by the bus stop, but there is loads of space there.

I actually quite like that bend, it's nice and smooth aswell.

Its been a while since I was there but isn't it slightly cambered like a berm? All corners should be slightly banked, with gravel run offs instead of crappy kerbs...

Oh & it wasnt me by the way smile

To be fair, there is a good 2-cars worth of width in the uphill lane.

Really, there ought to be a marked right-turn only lane from, say, half way from the lights up to the junction IMO.

Yeah, it is slightly.

There is also a little sort of raised strip running across the road. Maybe where they have carried out some roadworks or something? That can feel a bit slippy sometimes, but only for a split second.

Yep it needs a right turn only lane to stop the chaos. Been saying that for nearly 40 years biggrin

People also need to stop doing 15-20mph round it and drive it! I've passed many at a steady 30 round there smile (Then there are those who indicate to take the bend...)

The raised bit was a roadworks/cable laying bit which has gradually compacted but was rather unsettling on a bike for the first couple of years it was there.
