We are considering a move to Torquay (not certain yet)

Part of that is looking at property

Would ideally be relative close/easy access to the hospital

What area(s) should be avoided ?

If you want close to the Hospital, then most of the place round there are not too bad - there are some areas that are full of people on benefits, but even then Torquay is hardly Moss Side!

As usual, depends on budget and preferences.

Hi, I am working at the hospital at the moment, pretty much anywhere in Torquay is within a 5 min drive to the hospital - things get considerably longer if you head towards Newton Abbott. Only issue with the hospital site is the total lack of staff parking, I have to park about 1/2 a mile away on a public road and walk in.

I actually live in the Thames Valley but have spent pretty much all of this year living 3 days a week in a hotel in Torquay near Babbacombe/Wellswood which seems very nice. Quite a few people in the office I am working in live in Newton Abbott or Kingskerswell, I will ask around in the office and let you know.

Hi, I lived in North Whilborough near Kingskerswell for a few years. Its a lovely spot and about 5mins from the hospital http://www.longbarncottages.co.uk/ might be worth a stay to get a feel for the area, go on spoil yourselves. HTH smile

Used to be advised to avoid the Hele village area which is not that far from the hospital, yet shiphay is quite nice.

I noticed today a nice one auction at Paignton coming up soon for auction.

Odd that I used to live and work around Dartmoor, Torquay & Paignton about 29 years ago, just never interested me since to go back to either Paignton or Torquay.

Thanks for all the replies: time for an update

My wife got the job and we have been looking to buy. We only found one house and put in a very respectable offer which was refused. The crap about there being a building plot was a red herring - all permissions (and appeals) refused sine the 70's.

So we are going to rent this (at least there is somewhere for the SEAC)

See you in mid June!

I lived in Cockikngton for about 18months. Strange place to live, lovely but felt like you were on a set because so many holiday makers in summer made it feel like it wasn't a real place to live!

Nice spot to be starting with smile

We moved down to Brixham in January - we love the area.

We'll have to get a Bay TVR/PH meet arranged!

Aviod Hele at all costs !!!

I live in Paignton so just next door to Torquay. If you can afford £2,000,000, buy a house up Ilsham Marine Drive, stunning views.
