Hi Guys + Gals,

I'm building a workbench in my garage but need a work surface. Kitchen work top looks ideal, does anyone have any going spare? Or know of where I can get some cheap? It's £45 at Wickes for a length (only need 3m). Scabbyness not an issue.

I would just buy some but the van failed MOT and needs 300 quids worth of work, the bike just ate it's engine and we just moved house and the old letting agent decided to steal some cash.

Anything else garage-y would be appreciated. Or 2x4 timber smile

Cheers

If you dont mind waiting till near christmas you can have my old kitchen worktop. I am going to be gutting and replacing the kitchen, but I am going to be too busy to do anything till atleast the beginning of december.

My kitchen is small and there is a sink in the middle of the worktop, so I guess that there might just be 3m once you have cut that out. It is just a nasty old 2cm thick chipboard top, but it is yours if you want it.

When I did my old workshop, I got the kitchen worktop from B&Q, they usually have some damaged lengths for sale either within the worktop section, or next to the area where they make the cuts.
IIRC I paid about a pound a meter for the stuff.

If you have the ability to transport it then it could be worth a look?

Bristol Wood Recycling, Cattle Market Road, Bristol.
Lots of cheap timber and probably worktop.
I work there from time to time as a volunteer.
