Other half has just been in to get a phone from Carphone wharehouse for her son, when it came to paying they asked by what means would she like to pay, phone was priced at £89, she said cash as it was her sons birthday money, which he had with him, Oh she said, if it's cash it's £140, you have to pay with a card to get it for £89, of course she paid with her debit card! Have they gone mad or something, even the person serving couldn't explain why!!!

That doesn't sound right. I used to work for CPW and there was never any reason for a phone to cost a different amount because of your method of payment!.

I still know a few people who work there so I could do some asking if you like?

Make sure they haven't signed her up for their phone insurance either (unless she wants it of course)

Id be on to head office asking why difference? Did she have full veiw of the card all the time, I know a while ago there was a skimming operation going on in petrol stations (a big multi national who you would think you could trust) might be worth checking statements for a couple of months. Sorry to sound a bit wary but you hear these stories and I think its better to be alert when it seems as if they want you to use your card over cash

check the small print as well make sure that they haven't set-up some sort of recurring charge
