Does anybody fancy giving drag racing a go? there is a public track weekend at Shakespeare county raceway on the 3rd and 4th october.
What do you think ? I will be going regardless but if theres enough interest perhaps we could do a Pistonheads series next season?driving

Damn, I was hoping it was going to be later in October.

I want to go but not sure I can make it. I'll be coming back from Wales on the Saturday in the Omega. Also, I don't have a helmet. At Smeatharpe you could rent one with a deposit.

It's £20 a day isn't it?

you only need a helmet if you get over 100mph or under 11 seconds if I'm not next to you at the time you could borrow mine

I'd obviously want to 'race' you at some point, so sourcing another helmet might be needed. I wouldn't want to go up the strip without a helmet just in case.

The only way I can do it without really incurring a lot more cost is to somehow leave the TVR at Sandy's for a week while I'm on hols.

I really don't think I can afford it, as I've got to go to Kent on the Monday as well.

Damn. I suppose I could drag the gutless Omega with its whistling turbo. smile

Would love to but will be at Paul Ricard in France for the combined FIA GT / FFSA GT meeting that weekend.

He wont trust me to look after the other woman in his life for a whole week. Plus he'll be too busy plotting how to beat my 9.4 seconds on a 1/4 mile biggrin

If that's right, and you do 12 secs over the 1/4, we'd get slaughtered!

lol already there, I checked my timing slips
I raced a guy who did a 9.56 and he managed a 14.4 at 100mph pretty respectable!

I ran a 12.42 at 118MPH a few weeks back at Santa Pod into a very strong headwind.....I'd be hoping for nearer 12 seconds if I was there.
