Hi all,

thought it would be an idea to start up a thread for an event on WSM beach lawns next summer

By starting so far in advance and with the combined brainpower (alright shared braincell) of the usual suspects we should be able to get something pretty spectecular set up for next summer

So, here are my basic ideas with the floor then laid open ! -

1) Venue - WSM beach lawns

2) Date - I would suggest a Sunday in early June to avoid the main summer rush

3) Cause - get a charity nominated from the start

4) Prize draw - as Graham (V8S) started it for the meets this summer, this would seem a good idea

5) Food - I think Weston has this one pretty well covered with its assortment of bars, take aways and restaurants

6) Accomodation - for those travelling from farther afield (in the hope we will attract more national PH'ers) it would be good if we could get some deals organised with local hotels of various price ranges (Cadbury House in particular springs to mind due to its off the road, slightly more secure parking?)

7) With the above born in mind we might even be able to get a night out organised on the Saturday before the event in good old WSM

biggrin

I'm well up for this, can we book some warm & dry weather for the date please?

Agree about the hotel etc, has to have secure off-road parking.

Not required for me as I'm fairly local.

As soon as we've sorted dates I'll put it to my councillor friend who as I've said previously is a petrolhead so should make it easy to organise, along with the fact that the beach lawns can now be used for events for most of the year biggrin

Good stuff folks!

MS - yes - if you could get things moving on accom that would be good - as said, cadbury seems ideal (not too pricey, reasonably secure?)

HF - any chance of contacting the councillor and getting an idea what dates in June are free

When is Le Mans 2010?

Am fairly sure I know someone that might be able to help out with this Matt.

Mrs GG was an Event Organiser until last year. She now knows plenty of people on the council and the relevant committees, and has already done some planning for beach front events in Weston.

Have a chat with her, she knows her stuff when it comes to events.

Our firm are currently deeply involved in designing the various stages of the sea defence scheme at WSM. Beach lawns is one phase of this which is currently in development. This may change the layout there somewhat regarding available space and I'm not sure when construction is planned for. I will though find out, just so that we know this event is sure not to clash.

Matt I'm good friends with the girl who works for the council organising local events like T4 etc. If you aren't getting anywhere give me a shout and I'll see what she says the score is with getting the relevant permissions.

Email Garlick through his profile would probably be the best place to start I'd say.

Well,

I tried that Monday to try and get Cheddar upgraded to a front page Sunday Service, no response as yet?
