To all those who are located in the Bournemouth/Poole area of the SC, our friends at Dorset 'Safety' camera partnership are introducing new Safety camera's on the Holsbay road (the Dual carriage way which runs into Poole from the main Poole by-pass ) but these are not normal Camera's, these are integrated with the Sterte Traffic Lights. This a trial, but if successful there is a good chance these will be rolling out a cross Dorset!!

This is a 30mph Zone. Obviously no one here would be speeding this is just a little information just in case wink

Drive safely every one

Does that mean they will be acting like average speed cameras ?

Oh yes, the 30mph zone, artificially installed on a dual carriageway, away from any buildings of note (let alone residential property) on the edge of Poole, with a pretty much fatality free history aside from a few bikers who fell off 10 years ago when doing substantially more than 100mph further out of town (so as if even a 70mph limit would have stopped those accidents)

I wonder why they put the limit on, and have now decided to upgrade the enforcement? Oh yes - no accident statistics to curb, but it will pay for a few salaries for the boys...

There'd be far fewer accidents in this area if we cleared some of the fuddy-duddies off the streets who can't drive. Of course that would take officers and make less money wouldn't it?

I reckon I will end up getting caught TBH, I normally fly through those lights! Just hope I remember!

BTW this is actually a true thing! To any doubters out there just as you go past the traffic lights three white lines appear on the road as speed markers.

And they have scamera vans at the bottom of Connie hill too!

The camera vans are on both sides of the carraigeway.

They normally have a lot more lines than 3. They currently look like the last 3 in the set and others are not yet there. Do they still need the other lines? Are they actually operational or is it a test ot see if it is worth making them permanent.
