City among 'least car friendly'

Bristol has been named one of the UK's least car-friendly cities in a survey of the best places for drivers.

Parking charges in the city were found to be just as expensive as those in London and Edinburgh in the insurance company survey.

One car park in Queen Charlotte Street costs £4.90 to park for two hours.

Bristol came 48th in a list of 63 of the largest populated towns and cities - ranked on petrol cost, parking prices, car parks, and car crime.

Not really much of a surprise; we all know how much the local council hates cars and drivers.

Be interesting to see what the change in regime brings...

Bearing in mind it is the beardy-wierdies then I foresee Brissle dropping further down that list...

Mind you, after the inertia of the last couple of years, it will be good to see the council moving in one direction - even if it is a fully barking one.

Don't forget Bristle recently designated itself 'Bike City,' or some such drivvle.

My first thought was - "They'll have to find some way of stopping them riding all over the pavements, ignoring all the red lights and no entry signs," - etc.

If it turns into another Oxford then it may have to be walled in and set fire to.
A bit harsh maybe but at £200 to rent road space for a year then giving 60p a litre to the gov at the pump, to then turn MY road space over to the great unwashed and stumbling weekend masses superheats my urine a little!

And lets not forget that most of the roads in Bristol are in a state that most unclassified roads woudl be ashamed of! I'm glad not to be driving there anymore!
