Actually, just checked Google maps and my mistake (so used to going to Bournemouth!) - you dont go as far as Dorchester.

Depends how far down you want to get before a stop and how much you want to spend

Castle Hotel @ Taunton is a bit pricey but excellent rep?

That way you would have quite a short journey the next day

Hmmm

Just checked Trip Advisor and it would appear what I'd heard about the Castle is somewhat out of date, getting some very iffy reviews for somehwere that charges so much

Actually, Cadbury House near Weston is very good (I've eaten there and enjoyed, friends have stayed there and praised it), only a few miles from J21 M5 and probably just over half way for you?

Anyway, over to others!...............

If you made good time and wanted to fall out of bed and into the event, there's a very nice hotel right in the middle of Sherborne.

It has a rear car park that I think is quite safe, but then Sherborne is almost crime free anyway. There's an Aston that regularly parks on the road a few metres from the hotel, a Ford GT that parks up in the town centre and all sorts of things pass through. Oh and there's a Honda NSX about 30 yards down the road, always parked in a garage.

The Eastbury Hotel

It's a stone's throw from Sherborne Castle too - as well as near the impressive Abbey, Conduit medieval wash house and the main high street. Sherborne is very much worth a wander round for all the beautiful buildings.

So in summary, even when the meet's not on Sherborne is worth a trip for PH'ers?

Well it's not exactly a poor area and is populated mostly by rich, old people. Quite a few Astons around the town, various Ferraris pass through relatively regularly and AMG Mercs are ten a penny.
