We noticed this space a while ago, its not maked for Police or taxis, its a proper marked parking space on a island! Those of you who know Bristol will know where it is, its at the end of King St. Its a popular space, as we reversed off someone else jumped on!

Anyone know of any more?

No, it's for real. My office is about 50 yards from there (in Marsh Street), walk past there every day to work, always something parked there.

That space always amuses me slightly. I assumed it must actually be owned by an individual or business privately as it just seemed so bizarre.

Nice spot to show off your Esprit though smile

There's one at the side of St Andrews Road in Avonmouth - the cycle path diverts around it.

The Scamerati uses it to hose people trying to avoid artics and random stopping on the way past the dangerous and requiring all attention junctions near the petrol station rolleyes

Maybe not! we were going to have a quick drink in the bar that over looks that island but it seems to have closed down. Mentioning the scamera place in Avonmouth, maybe this is a spot for them to park, i've never seen a van there & the only road to shoot is the road up to the swing bridge & thats not really a speed hot spot surely? (the road behind in the first pic)

I just wondered if there were any other odd places to park, there used to be a space just enough for one car on Baldwin st, the double yellows stopped & there was a gap before the zig zag lines started for the crossing, though recently its been filled in to double yellow.

It's completely legit. Used to work just up the road from there; was always something different parked up and the wardens / BiB didn't bat an eyelid.

The wardens are based very close by, so you know if it was dodgy you'd get a ticket in seconds...

Cool. Wouldn't look quite the same with a Corsa parked up though hehe

How did you get the Lotus up there? I can't make out a lowered kerb?

I think we should all take a photo of our car parked on there, and post on this thread.

The kerb is slightly sloped but it still scraped slightly, no more than coming out of your average petrol station though. Drive forwards at an angle taking it slow and straighten up when both front wheels are up, reverse off the same way.

So whos going to try it next? Actually the cafe on Queen Sq is only just around the corner, maybe after the next Sunday morning meet everyone could take it in turns! biggrin

It's a bit like our very own custard test smile

If you drive "xyz" you have to prove it by parking on the island and taking a picture!
