We're planning a couple of days in Tintagel in mid-July and wondered if anyone can recommend a good place to stay? B&B or hotel is fine although we'd rather pay more for somewhere better as we'll be on our honeymoon cloud9

You'd probably be better off staying somewhere other than Tintagel then. Boscastle is just down the road and is much prettier.

Or Trebarwith Strand.

boscastle decent too.

Tintagel is full of tat shops and 'wizardry' new worldy rubbish. There's no parking and there's no beach and it's too 'merliney'. worth a visit if you've got kids or just want to see how godawful we can make a cornish village.

I would stay at Trebarwith Strand - are you looking for a hotel or a place to rent.

There used to be a great hotel just outside Tintagel called Trebrae Lodge but, iirc, it has closed now.

Pub at Trebarwith Strand (there's only one and not much else apart from great cliffs sea views etc.) not far from Tintagel.
TT
PS.Good luck & congratulations

I don't know it, and I can't say I've been there since I was a kid, but I googled tintagel and it came up with this place:
http://www.camelotcastle.com/tariff.htm

Seems nice enough with decent rooms from £65 pppn (£130 per night for room). Not sure what your budget is or if the hotel is any good.

P.S. Try www.tripadvisor.com for a good hotel review site.
I stayed at Camelot a few years ago for an event that took over the whole hotel. The hotel and owner are both slightly eccentric, but it is a stunning location.

Thanks for all your replies!

I've had a look at some of the TripAdvisor reviews for Camelot Castle and decided against.... Trebarwith Sand is looking favourite.

Thanks again smile

Just up the road from the pub at Trebarwith, nice little place to stay. Stayed there on our honeymoon, had the room over the dining/breakfast room, excellent views over the coast, lovely site to wake up to.

That pub was great. They've got a parrot that the French chef has taught to whistle the Marseilleise (sic).

Camelot Castle is (as has been said) very eccentric, dated, eery, stayed there many years ago and still laugh about it to this day, for that it was worth the stay, just dont expect to be impressed wink

Great walk which has always stuck with us went from Tintagel to some weird caves, the walk itself is quite different also the caves are quite eery as people hang memorial things on string & have been for many years, quite blair witch, definitely worth the walk smile
