Just spotted this story: http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/homepage/Bristol-ge...

Looks like two large areas will be covered, wth only some larger roads being exempt. There's a map here: http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/20mphmap.html

I don't have a problem with 20mph limits on residential roads that aren't through routes, but don't like the sound of all the 'traffic calming' measures this will entail.

Am I right in thinking that there aren't any speed measurement devices that are type-approved for use at 20mph?

Jesus Christ, that's spooky! I was literally about to post the same topic when I refreshed the page and yours appeared.

I've just been reading about this in the Post. I don't especially fall out with it in certain areas but cannot see it being adhered to... Most of the areas they are proposing are unlikely to be enforceable in any case (IE nowhere to park a scamera van!)

I did chuckle at this loony lefty tit though

I think even 20mph is too fast. They should make it 10 around here. It will put people off using cars which would be better for the enviromnent
fk off back to la-la land, "Steve".

I may have mentioned my V8 in the responses, along with the utter futility of the 20mph zone I live in.

I really like the reply from the bozo wondering how on earth people could be taught to drive properly. Prize kipper.

Every tw@t meanders along at 15MPH anyway.

I live in Southville and I'm surrounded by the bloody 'Fairtrade' rice paper earth mothers on thier wind powered carbon neutral peace bicycles.

It drives me insane that they stop the traffic at a crossing just to join the road and even before the light goes red so that by the time they've managed to stop two lanes of traffic they are on their merry little way to the community centre to weave yoga mats out of hemp.

I don't condone driving quickly in built up areas let alone near schools but they are trying to enforce a 20MPH limit on Coronation Road..... WTF?

Face it, enjoying cars is out of fashion. We're baby killers and thats that.

I wouldn't worry too much, they've done it in Exeter around the city centre and all the way along through Exwick and 99% of the population ignores it completely and still drive at the same 30-40mph they always drove (when the traffic allows).

It really makes me wonder what planet these morons live on.

Have just skim-read that article.

Why is bristol spending 11 Million pounds a year on cycle lanes??!!!

The reason no-one uses a bike around bristol is because it is bloody hilly! I would have thought that would be fairly obvious!
