Quite interesting these CAR mags; been going through them reading about the "New Rover 800" and the "New Jaguar XJ". Also chock full of comedy adverts for car stereos boasting 9 Watts of power. Interesting first drive of the Mk1 MR2 in one of them - it was intended as a runabout for America and came with a 1.5 carb 8v and 4 speed auto! First drive was underwhelming which surprised me.
Also plenty of industry talk from back in the 80s so you can read all about the wranglings going on behind the development of the Lancia thema 8.32.. Audi 80... Corrado (which was apparently NOT a scirroco replacement??), the MG Metro and Montego, and anything/everything from Austin/Rover/Jag.
There's a lot more industry talk in these old mags which I find fascinating. In fact theres 300 times more substance than todays mags where at best they go for a drive in Wales and might mention vaguely that they think VW and Porsche are connected somehow. Lots on the insider news of the VW VR6 for example - then called RV6 and apparently going to be in sizes from 2.0 12v to 2.6 24v. And there's a test of Porsche's Carrera engined microbus they used for ferrying people to meetings.
Plenty of Alfas in them too. LJK setright is present but I can't make it through one of his articles!

It's only a stack 14-15 inches high though, all 1986 or 1985. Currently reading them during breakfast but assuming my dad decides to go ahead with junking (says they aren't worth anything) then if anyone wants them I'm in Dursley area but travel to Cheltenham often.

If you can handle hanging onto them for a few weeks (I'm at work out of the UK at the mo) then I'll happily relieve you of them.
Am in Yate, so can pop up to collect.

Hmm no sooner did I post than did they disappear from the kitchen. They're apparently now in the garage 'for sorting through' - presumably they've just migrated the 15 yards to their new storage place and won't be going anywhere - sorry for the getting of hopes up (not that people were clamoring for them).

They have sparked an interest in me about going to the motor museum up in the midlands (Gaydon?) with lots of British era cars in it. I'm going to go next week since I'm unemployed I might as well learn some history.

Anyway by way of apology here's a sample of the interest within-
