Reportedly the 3-month closure of the 303 has been put-off for the time being. Hopefully for just long enough for someone with some brains to assess the alternatives.

For Gods sake why can't they just build a nice new road whilst using the old one , not rocket science is it ? Most other new roads are built like this like the new Ottery section of the A303.

Well we were due to be in the midst of the diversion, an aboslute crazy diversion route that involved sending westbound A303 traffic through our town which already has 5 sets of traffic lights & peak time queue's of 10-15 mins & its only a poxy little place (a set of lights for every new build mini estate more or less) It would have been total & absolute gridlock of biblical proportions.

Who'ever designed the diversion route had no idea whatsoever & I really mean no idea!!!

For once, thank God, common sense prevailed.

anyone that knows Castle Cary would know that it simply cannot accomodate peak traffic

I guess they hired "consultants" to design the route
