Hi Guys,

I went to a "test day" at Llandow race circuit last week and was an absolutely brilliant day racing.

It is an all day open pitlane for £120, i dont know about you but thats as cheap as i have ever found. I would be interested in organising an all day track day depending on number of participants that are interested.

It would be in January on 2nd or 3rd saturday. start at 9am through till dark. The cost to hire the track is £2000 all day including marshalls and paramedic etc etc. so the cost would likely to be £100 for the day based on 20 people entering. im likely to get a few more than that, if so it will be cheaper.

Let me know if your interested and what car you have got!

Llandow's not the most interesting circuit though. If you do Pembrey I'd be interested.

I race at Llandow and it's a good track with two small faults. Firstly its not very quick with the bus stop section and also it eats tyres. I'm not sure one set would do a dry day's racing there.
I'm up for any trackday but I would also be careful who you sign up for the day as some I've done are spoilt by a couple of numpties with bangers hitting people off. All my racing now is done through my motor club.
Let me know if you get something sorted though.

Cheers

ok mate no worries, what i had in mind was booking the whole track for the day to stop things like that happening and limiting the cars on track to 5-6 ideally so everyone gets a decent run at it.

i can definitly vouch for the tyres thing but i do love hitting that chicane at 100 then praying it grips well right!! brought a fair few smiles to my face i tell you! haha

will keep you posted mate, i have 10 interested so far.

Great idea to organise your own trackday, but a word of warning to those with trackday insurance, most companies will not provide cover unless it's with a recognised trackday organiser.

While the rules may be different if you hire the track for exclusive use, my experience is that if you go up there on a day that they are running "test sessions" (which was £70 for half a day (3 hours) a couple of years ago) you can run on slicks and only need a driving licence and to make sure your arms and legs are covered - no overalls / helmet / MSA licence etc required. At least that always used to be the case, I didn't go this spring so don't know if it has changed recently.

Last time I had the track to myself which allowed me to pootle around for about 50 laps to run the transaxle in then do some two lap runs to experiment with damper and roll bar settings before I cooked the super-sticky slicks.

Yes and no, they do test sessions at 70 quid for the 1/2 day and 120 for the full day, however you would need a race license or some kind of Motorsport expereince to just turn up. There isnt a noise restriction to my knowledge and they didnt test the cars before going on track.

best thing is that its really relaxed there whilst still being very safe, the marshall are as sound as.

If i was to book the whole track we'll need 20 to make it cheap for everyone, or i can arrange non race license holders to come on a test day all together. this is probably the most likely outcome. and are all generally open pitlane.

IF YOU WANT TO BE ON THE EMAIL LIST CAN YOU EMAIL ME YOUR DETAILS TO RYAN_DMD@HOTMAIL.COM and ill update you when ive sorted something.

Cheers
