Right, I'm calling out for some help from the PH lot here. My car is currently in a bodyshop in Swindon, and I'm concerned that they may have damaged the car, or that the work might not be up to standard.

That isn't a reflection on them, but just a concern that I have. Would anyone be available to meet me perhaps to cast another eye over the car? I'm worried I'll drive it away not noticing something, and then they will deny everything.

I know most people on here don't finish work that early, but if anyone is around, I would appreciate the help.

I'm around if you still need some help. Be interested to know which bodyshop it is too! They can be a bit hit n'miss in Swindon. Thankfully the one that last worked on my car is no more.

If Gez & M444 can't help you let me know sir, I should be able to sneak off work 1/2 hour early.

Right... Quick story update. (I'm posting this on two threads)

Called them today at 2pm, to be told they will ring me back in 5 minutes.
They don't call back by 3pm, so I call them again.
The car isn't ready. Apparently, it has:

Been painted
Been checked
Been rejected
Been painted
Been checked
Been rejected

So, that leaves me with no car... Still!

They were EXTREMELY reluctant to let me look at the car,but I did eventually get a look at the car when I told them that I had to retrieve specific documents from the car, with sensitive information on them. I didn't see any major damage, which is a plus. I did however notice there was some white 'cream' on one of the alloys. Could this mean it has been refurbed? I also didn't get to really look at the car, since he was by my side the whole time like we were siamese twins. Watching my every move like a hawk!

The bonnet paint is currently flattened down.

Frustrating! I'm just so annoyed that nothing has been done in all this time.

Is this based on the defect or has the car been damaged or something mate?

This is the defect being rectified, but I have a concern that they may have damaged my whilst they've had it. It definitely had some sort of 'cream' or something on one of the wheels, which I can't see why they'd need it. It could just be that they are slow, and are putting me off all the time, but they've got me a hire car now, at a cost to them, so I'm not sure.

sounds dodgy,

maybe they oversprayed onto the wheel, and the cream is there from taking off the paint and laquering the alloy back up?

Mate chill, the paste could be anything from cutting paste to polish.

I really doubt anything has happend to your car but if it has you carn't change it, just get it sorted.
One thing, you said it was flated back? what area was flated?
Did they say when it would be ready?

I'm trying to chill, but it just all doesn't really add up.
The fact it's been painted twice and failed twice, yet all the other cars that came out were fine.
They are edgy about letting me even see the car. He originally told me it was still in a bay covered up, so I couldn't go in.
The wheel has some cream on it, and not all of the wheels had this cream on.
They have paid for a hire car for me.
Oh, and the fact that they are VERY uncommunicative, and I'm having to do the chasing, they are reluctant to call me back, etc.

I'm trying to keep calm, but it's not easy. I have to pick it up tonight, apparently.

As for the flatted out bit, it was the entire bonnet. No other panels were flatted out at all. But, and I don't know if this was just the light, the front end looked a lot deeper blue (bumper and grille) than the rest of the car.

I'm trying to get there for around 5pm today. Would anyone that has already offered be available at that time tonight? I would be very grateful! I can't get on the internet today, as I'm at a meeting all day, but will be able to check my emails on my phone. Thanks for everyone's help so far. It's much appreciated.

Mate, think yourself lucky, my car Fiat 500 was painted 3 times, and the still could not get it right.

Just an example of the poor quality of finish and lack of care executed is here - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.p...

Sounds strange to me
Its your car, your entitled to look at it when you wish to do so, I had some work done by a very well known company in Swindon and I was told that I was more than welcome to check their progress when ever I wanted.

Your the one paying the bill & its your car.

Well they have told me it again will not be ready, due to my new splitter not arriving in time (arrived before midday today).

It will be ready tomorrow, apparently, but I am picking up on Saturday instead. That gives them enough time I feel. It is just extremely frustrating that I had a few offers of help for the evenings, and tonight I even had LuckyLuciano waiting outside the bodyshop, only for me to have to tell him that they have delayed it again (at 4.15pm!)

So, I'm not very happy. smile I've written a letter to my local dealership, my supplying dealership, and Vauxhall. I'm hoping to come to some sort of resolution.

I don't feel that a replacement vehicle would be unreasonable, however I understand they would be reluctant to refund the entire car.
