Anybody in here know if it's ok to take track cars to Westonzoyland for "driver familiarisation"? I recall using the area west of the road a few years ago when teaching my daughter to drive. We're adjusting our old Mustang street / et car for her to race but all the tracks are closed for the next few months and we could do with getting on with some work over the winter. My concern is that car runs without silencers! anybody taken race cars testing there? or for that matter anybody know of anywhere else in the area that's suitable? We don't want to do a lot of miles but some burn-outs and practice launches would do.

I know a mate with and a few other Westfield drivers spoke to the chap who owns the section of the airfield west of the road and managed to bag an evening session there a while back. I think it was an informal arrangement and I hear the surface is not in great condition, but it gave them the opportunity for a bit of 'testing'.

I guess if you're local to the area it may worth dropping in to see the guy.

You need to drop in and see the guy who runs it. (Middlezoy end) Might get a bit of grief if running unscilenced, I think his name is Glanville.

We've used it for testing a twin cam Dutton, he was no prob. He responds to politeness but if you ignore him you won't be going back. The surface is mostly concrete with a few holes, but you won't get up to any great speed. Water on site, but that's all.
