Having come back to my Sh!tter today to find a window broken and the satnav cradle and power lead stolen I am led to believe that cars are at risk where there is indication of having satnav.

Mine was in a 'secure' monitored car park with cctv.

Guess I should have been more careful but a heads up for anyone parking in the centre of Bristol.

Sorry to hear of your trouble but I think this has been the case in most places for a while. The assumption from the thieving st is that the satnav is in the car too.

About 5 years ago I left a phone charging cable and a carrier bag on the back seat of my old Corsa in Bristol and someone put the window in for it. I always wondered what they thought when they found the mouldy banana that was in the bag. The buggers also took my 20 year old Eagles cassette, along with carols from the seaside (our local town band) - I was always surprised they didn't trash the whole car in disgust with what they got out of it! biggrin

Thieves will look for the little circular marks on the windscreen where your Tom Tom (other brands are available) has been stuck, and take a gamble that it's in the car. And leave a bag in the car, and a thief will happily break in, just to see what's in it.

About 15 years ago a mate of mine has his Cavalier SRI nicked from Whitchurch sports centre car park when we were playing squash. We both laughed as we found his Metalica tape on the floor where the car was. The thief must have not liked it as it blasted out when the ingnition came on so threw it out the window....

Didnt like Metalica, likes the Eagles... it must be the same thief copwink

My car was done even though I leave the parcel shelf off so people can see there's nothing in there (I don't use my sat nav sucker thing) luckily they didn't spot the hidden drawer under my radio where I keep my iPod!

3 cars were 'done' at the same time with the offender caught on CCTV who is 'known'. Good chance of being caught I hope.

Talking to the glass company (National Mobile Windscreen whose Trowbridge branch has fantastic service) thefts from vehicles are rising the same degree as the last recession.

One massive pain in the ass for me was the glass companies call centres. Do you have your policy details with you "No,I am sat in my car 30 miles from my documents without a window" well sir we need that before we call anyone out to you. Lesson learned to keep details on me.

When I reported to the police they must have known I was a Pistonhead'r as they offered me victim support.

Sounds like it must have been! laugh I looked around for my cassettes in the hope that they'd chucked them somewhere....I was very attached to that Eagles cassette and Carols from the Seaside was irreplaceable laugh

I can't imagine how pissed off they were to find a mouldy banana and someone with very bad taste in music! Although I'm sure they got a tenner for the phone charger!

Just to add I found a 1 cm black line (marker pen type) on the drivers side window so loks like I had been marked as a target.

Worth looking for I guess.
