Looks like the muppets with the white paint are extending the bus lane on the inbound carriageway to roughly double it's current length - so back to that pumping station (or whatever it is) on the left.

Great. It's already a carpark at rush hour whilst 1 bus every 10 minutes trundles up the inside; I just can't see any point in even further reducing the available roadspace.

Wonderful mad

I'm still waiting to see what they're doing at the other end near the park and ride. Looks like they're doubling the size of the car park. What is the point? I've NEVER seen more than half a dozen people on those buses, and that's during rush hour to/from work! Another genius plan from Bristol stty Council rolleyes

You've obviously never been there at 07:45 in the morning then, buses usually leave the P&R 95% full. Until a month or so ago I used to use that particular loser-cruiser spot every day.

Yup, they are indeed doubling the size of the car-park and extending the bus lanes both ways.

Commuting up from the "deep south" I got fed up with lorries falling over on the junction of the A4/M5 or people using the Portway as a runway for JCB Airways, leaving me with a 2.5 hour journey home. Off at J21, up the A370 and Long Ashton for me now, much nicer run. biggrin

Gary, no offence intended to the JCB driver, bad attempt at humour so apologies for that. paperbag

What actually happened to the poor chap? Consensus in t'office was heart attack followed by loss of control?

Looks like they've now taken the bus lane all the way back to the Sea Mills / Roman Way junction and finally that's as far as it's going.

So, you have to crawl through Avonmouth, past Shirehampton and as soon as the road opens up (and there are no more junctions until Bridge Valley Road) you now have to shuffle over and queue into the single lane that remains. Oh, and said remaining lane has been reduced in width by a good 6 to 12 inches for its entire length.

Nice one BCC. Another step in the masterplan to screw up Bristol's traffic falls into place...

Went down the Portway for the first time in ages today. Couldn't believe what the Council Numptys have been spending tax on.

You can almost imagine the Council Meeting - "We need to be seen to be doing something 'green' to save the planet, get people out of their cars, onto the buses and onto their push bikes. If we spend another few Million, build another new park and ride, extend the bus lane, and the people of Bristol are sure to use it!"

Muppets! 1 bus every 10 mins and vertually Zero bikes.

It is so obvious, if this Council got its way, they would abolish cars from the City completely.
