Mechanic/maintenance course

I have decided that I would like to do some sort of evening course regarding car maintenance/repair etc.
I do a certain amount on my cars but feel I could easily do more with a bit more confidence/knowledge. I can follow a manual quite well but by no means am I a mechanic.
So has anyone done anything similar around Swindon? I don't want it to be too basic - I can change a wheel - but a wheel bearing or electrical fault would be useful. I wondered if there was anything around Castle Coombe?
