I was on my travels down the 303 today and started to gain on what I thought was a car being escorted at speed in the fast lane , I was curious so caught up and saw there was more to it than that , three police Beemers were attempting to pull a siver Octavia over , I then witnessed the "box and stop manouvre" which was mightily impressive , a very precise and exact exercise involving all three police cars , admittedly the Skoda didn,t put up much of a fight and it was probably a bit over the top but it was interesting to see it executed live instead of on one of those documentaries , gawd only knows what the driver was up to before , probably pulled out at a junction in front of the chief super...

Did the Skoda hit any of the police cars?

If not it could have been an exercise.

Given the Octavia is the car of choice at the moment for unmarked police cars theres every chance it was an exercise , still an impressive piece of formation driving though.

I did once see it done 2 days on the trot and the copper that was the fake crim was driving an old D reg Golf GTi that they must of conviscated !! that was a laugh as he put up a real fight and made it hard for them.

Isn't that what happened with that chap in a stolen Mitsi pick-up the other day, its still being investigated i think but sounds like the Mitsi was forced into central reservation.

Unfortunately it ended in tradgedy for the oncoming driver.

I saw a Police Silver Mondeo ST, but it wasn't fully unmarked, it had southwest police decals on the rear wings

I think I am right in saying that the Silver ST's with the rear qtr markings are training cars, there is a section that operates out of the Sowton area at Exeter for Police Driver Training.

Drive a Silver St tdci myself up and down the A38 and 303 v.frequently, am sure I am mistaken at times when cruising at the limit, cars creep up on my rear shoulder slowly then (seeing no marking or my suit jacket) get back up to their cruising speed.biggrin

The silver Mondeos in Exeter are all training vechiles. Anybody who drives any Police vechiles have to undergo a training programme to which they must pass to continue to drive the Force cars.

But - Couple of really nice unmarked and Very Quick Focus's on the roads around Exeter - One Black and One Silver.
