London Road Bath
Discussion
Hello
Whilst parked in traffic on London Road today I noticed that their seems to be a single traffic light which serves no purpose.
If your heading into the city from the A46 Batheaston Bypass the traffic light lies at merge with the bus lane about 50 meters before the morrisions traffic lights. Their is even the stop line.
Heres a google maps link.
My first thoughts are that it is used to control traffic coming down from Picidally place (to the north west on google maps link) but as you can see on the link that their is a give way line. The traffic light is not raised and is not synced with the traffic lights at morrisons. It is not a pedestrian crossing either.
Any thoughts guys?

Can't get onto Goolge maps here, but is that the one that allows the buses to jump to the front of the queue at the Morrisons junction. If so, when it's red, the bus lane doesn't need to stop for it, only the main traffic.
Never thought of that. Makes sense though.Would skipping into the (nearly always) empty bus lane to jump the red light get me points
The timing of the lights is such that if you pop over to avoid the first red you are likely to be caught by the second - one light follows the other in fairly short order. It just enables buses to skip past the other traffic for the very short single carriageway bit. That Morrison junction is a right pain, without it you can have (and did I think) a dual carriageway all the way up to Cleveland Bridge.
The bus lane is a bit annoying as it is a 24 hour one on a very busy road that creates a bit of a bottle neck. You drive down on busy times on Sundays with loads of tourist traffic and next to no buses. It does enable the taxis to speed down the inside though, which can make crossing the road fun.
If I scoll Google maps a bit you can see my (ex) XJS parked up Aha! I miss the monster.
