Right,

Tell me I'm not going mad here.

I can't find any pictures ATM, but I'm sure there used to be a raised dual carriageway right across Queen Square, linking the mini roundabouts at Redcliffe Bridge and just off Baldwin St.

Looking at how nice the Square is now, it seems like sacrilege.

Anyone else remember this/have any pictures?!?

The only raised bit I recall is the old Redcliffe flyover. Used to drive through Queen Square when the road was open.

You're entirely right, I've just found a picture and it's flat. Very odd to think of the difference now though...

Much better without the buses etc! I used to work there and loved sitting outside at lunchtime smile

I spent a good part of the afternoon there today in a lying position, book and beer in hand. Magic. Lots of "scenery" to look at too!

I like your style biggrin

The "architecture" is excellent this time of year, especially around lunchtime - must be the effect of the sunlightwink

I remember it well, I was a young boy racer in a 318i. Smack in the middle of Queen Sq was (infact still is) the statue, the roads used to swerve around it, lovely little left, right flicks at highly illegal speeds just missing the edge of the kerbs...

Yes I really did drive like a tt back then but glad I made the most of a camera free enviroment. smile

Agree! biggrin Work in Marsh Street and Queen Square is my regular lunchbreak walk - 30mins doesn't give much time for anything more than a brief survey of said scenery.......

It's about the only intelligent planning decision that's ever happened in Brissle.

Good man! thumbup

I knew I wasn't going COMPLETELY mad. It really was utter sacrilege to run a road through that Square. Shame it's lost in the flurry of utterly ste, backward, lunatic planning decisions over the past few years...

The curves were just spot on - I could straight-line the road whilst passing traffic alternately on both sides!

Hate to say it but the current layout is much better (and well worth a wander of a sunny summer weekday lunchtimewink)
