Is anyone else doing the mamhead hillclimb?
Discussion
evening all.
I was just wondering if any PHers are members of the Torbay motor club and/or are partaking in the mamhead hillclimb this weekend?
if so then I will make a special effort to try and meet you if you let me know what car you will be in.
and if you have any questions about the location or the event itself then dont hesitate to ask and i will answer things to the best of my abilities although to be fair i probably should know more about what is going on than i currently do seeing as it is happening up our drive!

Hi Chris.
Will be there in an official capacity. I am a club Steward Sat and Deputy Clerk Of Course Sunday. See your father is using an Elan, one day I shall get mine back in use. Come and say hello, most people will point me out.
Thanks to your family for making the event possible. It's always good to see a new venue being used. And as I am only in Dawlish it's on the doorstep.

I will definitely come and say hello. it can only be a good thing to get to know more local car nuts!See your father is using an Elan, one day I shall get mine back in use.
im sure my dad would be interested to talk to you about elans. he has had race prepped elans for many years now, but since we moved to mamhead the technicalities of racing have become a little more difficult as his mechanic lives and works from leicester. so if you have any knowledge of local elan links then that would be useful.
i am very much looking forward to the event even though there is a very high chance i will be the slowest up the hill seeing as my car is absolutely standard and the extent of my experience is just a handful of track-days.
unfortunately this first event is not open to spectating just so we can see how well the event works on its own before adding the public to it. we also want to see how the neighbours react to the event and we thought that it might be just that bit better if traffic is kept to a minimum.
if things go well and we decide to invite public for further events then i will definitely make it known on here.

From what I see in the entry list Chris I would suggest Joanne will be the one in your class to set the pace. Still it's not being fastest it's having a good day that counts! Hope the weather improves.
I know it's no spectators but of course Marshal's are always needed and if people have never marshaled before I'm sure the organisors will be willing to team them up with experienced people.

Speedy, Yes to both questions, have seen the course, during a work party, Its quite a challenge but wide. Hope Its dry as under the trees could be a bit slippy, and the paddock soggy.
With some Hillclimbs and Sprint courses under threat this new venue is most welcome.
i havent been to any other hillclimbs but i have heard that ours could be interesting from a number of different people now. in the dry the surface is quite nice so the width should allow people to consider lines through the corners and the final stretch will probably see quite a bit of speed. With some Hillclimbs and Sprint courses under threat this new venue is most welcome.
i too hope that we get nice weather because im not at all sure what the grip will be like in the wet. espcially as i have done quite a bit of damage to an off-road go kart on the drive in the wet (but it was coming down, not going up and i did overestimate how much grip the mud tyres would have and consequently understeered into a sizeable rock!)
the closer it gets to the weekend the more excited i get about it. im really looking forward to it now!

Yeah I was late entering. Okay, great, panic over then! I am number 19 in class A4 by the way.
P.S. what is the best way to get to you from Exeter?
i have just seen that there is a revised entry list on the website and you are on that.P.S. what is the best way to get to you from Exeter?
from exeter:
head south on the M5
stay on that road (it becomes the A38 i think)
a couple of miles after the road changes stay right to follow the A38
about 2 miles later stay left to follow the A380 up the steep hill.
at the top of the hill come off that road.
turn left at the T-junction
1 mile later turn left again
the entrance is 500m down that road on the right
im guessing there will be signs for the last bit.
