Whilst I appreciate VW Beetles may not get much press on Pistonheads, is anybody up for a cruise/hoon on Saturday down to Nequay.

I don't drive a beetle, just a good excuse to get out and drive around think it would be nice to show beetle owners what proper performance is like!

Looking to meet up around Exeter Services maybe.

you should challenge one of the drag beetles to a blast up the strip at santapod or similar

I think he would be surprised at how fast they can be these days, is it 7 or 8 seconds up the strip with vw power.

They may not be all the top times, but the stink that was kicked up after the beetle raced the 911 was rather entertaining. A lot of, that beetle isn't a road car etc etc. Although it is driven around and not just used for drag racing

Think everyone has gone a tad off topic.

The comment made was in no way intended to be a slur on beetles, their owners or fans. There will always be exceptional bits of engineering around.

As Bomber says, it's mostly chav'd up hatches these days. Even the dubbers who eventually swamped the original hot rod gathering that it was have gone off and started their own alternative event.
