if you go to tiverton from cullompton via the motorway then head for exeter the scenic route - A396 - you can either go the whole way on that which is quite fun but more fun is to be had turning off right 4 miles along the road (where there are 2 pubs, The Trout and The Fisherman's cottage by a bridge) towards Crediton. That road is a true test of tyres and brakes!

That's one of my 'test' routes...tis a real good'un!! My other favourite route is the road to mortenhampstead from the alphington junction on the A30...

A good route is up to Tiverton and then take the exe valley road, ( turn right at the first island on the n devon link road) heading towards bampton

All of the above are good, but happen to be plagued by slow driver, caravans, etc. The Bickleigh to Crediton one has a fair bit of farm traffic and milk tankers. Good test of overtaking speed/skill though I guess.

That's the problem with the whole of Devon really. Damn that beautiful countryside! I find those two roads are dead after 10PM though, spose not really an ideal time for a hoon if you don't know the road.

The road from Tiverton through Bampton following sighns for Wimbleball lake and then onto Exmoor is rather good, albeit getting a little far away from Cullompton!
