WTF! Thought I'd take a long way onto the motorway last night and do my favourite stretch of road out of Bristol, only to find the speed Nazis have revoked the national limit along the whole stretch and replaced it with a 50 limit for the first 1/4 and a 40 limit for the rest mad

For those of you unaware of this road, it's a nice 2 lane stretch into Avonmouth with good visibility and a few sweeping bends. A shame really as I can just see them plonking a Talivan along there now to catch out the regulars frown

Ah ste. There goes all the fun of hooning to the tip with a comically overloaded car...

Is it still all blocked up with roadworks?

I'm guessing the new speed limit coincides with all the new industrial units being flung up along there at the moment?

Oh rollocks.

Our best morning hoons, the road from Thornbury, down to Avonmouth then take the left into this road to Lawrie wesson, last blast before hitting population.

Thinking about it, I never kept to the old limits, what ever they were so i'm not to worried about the new limit! evil Lets just rely on good observation & driving within the limits of car & driver, thats surely the best advice.... wink

Unfortunately that stretch of road is somewhat dicey, with probably a motorist a month ending up in the drainage ditches! It is rather prone to frost etcetera and the sweeping bends catch many out..

It is a great stretch of road though, and I love the Aust road too. Used to work in that particular area in an official capacity so have good knowledge of how dicey it can be at decent speeds! The corners do tend to creep up on one somewhat!

paperbag

:shuffles feet: Er, yeah. Sorry about that.

The St Andrews Road end will be very busy by the time the new shed gets operational so its unlikely that the half a mile or so will be as much fun as it used to be....

I drove this on Sunday, and they've also removed the NSL on lots of the road from Avonmouth to Aust too. It's a real shame - if I'd known it was on the cards I would have objected.

There are now very few roads near me where I can take my IAM associates for practice at reasonable speeds. Interesting how it looks like the mistakes of a few careless drivers are going to cause lots of us to break the law.

BTW, what is that enormous warehouse at the Avonmouth end of Kingsweston lane going to be?
