Just a thought but I thought it might be nice to have a static on the coast to have as a retreat, anyone have any experience of such a thing?

A few mates have 'vans' down at Hendra but I thought if I had one in Looe it would be great to finish work on a sunny day and just be 20 mins away.

Any input welcomed.

Lots of caravan parks are on land prone to flooding because it's cheap. Check the environment agency website for flood risk maps. This caught out hundreds of caravan owners round here last summer.

Another thing to watch out for if thinking of buying is the age of the caravan, most sites wont allow caravans older than 5-10 years of age, if someone is selling check the age! or you could find a year or two down the line of ownership the need to get rid and replace!

My Aunt and Uncle have one in an area in Wales (they live in Stoke on Trent so quite near for them) They love it, they are not allowed to holidy rent it. You need to make sure it is quire new as they need to changed every 10 years I think but they really enjoy having it as a retreat.

Our family has a touring caravan which we leave on a site all year round and just use it on a few nice weekends a year.

Not all caravan parks take the larger static vans althought there are a few near Plynth and Looe.(lovely area)
At a certain age they are not allowed on the site where as there are no regs on the ages of tourers AFAIK.

Tourers seem to be cheaper to buy initially but a static one has zero value once it reaches the age where you have to take it off site.
