Plodding through the Saltash tunnel on Friday I noticed a set of SPECS cameras mounted in the roof gantries of the tunnel. However i'm told they are not currently used for speed detection purposes. Whilst I have stuck to the 30 limit, plenty of other people weren't.

So, can anyone confirm whether the cameras are indeed used as average speed cameras, or are they used for other purposes?

Those SPECS cameras have been there a couple of years now. Not activated, I know people who regularly do 40+ through there and no tickets. Personely I stick to 30 as Ive had nuggets come staight at me in the wrong lane twice in the past five years.

Yep, not worth it + the plod sit just outside on the roundabout far too often, as it's a bit of a drag strip up the hill
