I'm glad to see they've finally finished whatever they've been doing on Baldwin Streetthat has caused traffic chaos but they've really made a mess of the road surface, there are lumps and bumps all over the place.

Is it really that diffifult to get the road surface somewhere close to flat after road works?

No, but that would mean they had no excuse to go back & dig it up again in 6 month's time.
Traffic chaos is what BCC want, after all.
They need to be able to "justify" congestion charging somehow...

Absolutely - have you noticed the rephasing of traffic lights has been started to make congestion worse? Ikea jn of the M32 is the most obvious example I have found so far frown

yes And closing off the side roads that act as pressure release valves at congestion pinch points.

Case in point: the little hill between Redland Hill and Blackboy Hill. Very useful rat-run for traffic needing to go down Whiteladies without queueing for hours at the Westbury Road / Blackboy Hill junction behinf 100s of cars trying to go straight over to get to Bridge Valley Road. It's recently been made one way... UP the hill, i.e. the way that nobody ever goes. A more practical solution would have been to make it one way DOWN so as to relieve congestion and prevent the odd nutter from going up and causing chaos (it's only about 1.5 car widths wide in places).

I did wonder if a couple of city councilors lived on that road - it was the only rational reason I could think of for making it 1 way...

I work at the Spire hospital just at the top of Blackboy hill. The closing of that side road has added 5 minutes to my journey into work, as I know have to queue all the way up that hill. Surely all those queuing cars can't be better that a few cars nipping down a side street.

Yep, Hayley and I commented on this only yesterday when we came of the M32 and drove past the massively long queue that was waiting for Ikea, but also tailing all the way up Muller Rd and onto Fishponds Rd and Royate Hill...

It IS certainly getting worse - and not only that, I have to a St. George to St.Phillips and then Avonmouth journey everyday for the next two weeks frown (and the return journey too)...

When did it change from being a Bupa hospital? I only noticed the new signs a couple of weeks ago.

I drive past there everyday and hadn't realised why the traffic had suddenly got so bad. It's a real PITA, with all the cars parked along there too. Getting the Monaro down there can get a bit tricky, especially when a big truck "the whole road take over*"

November last year. Spire bought the BUPA hospitals group and are not allosed to refer to it as BUPA anymore. Most people still know it as the Glen.

This all now pales in comparison to the complete clusterfvck that is bond street, shutting off a whole road into bristol for two days and counting.

fk me. I say again, fk me. What a completely insane decision. I've not been up that way in a while but ffs, what possible justification could they have for doing that, its utterly incomprehensible! We need to know addresses of councillors and we need to know it now! It effectively turns that road into a cul-de-sac or deserted road! There is zero reason to go UP that road as if you wanted to head that way you'd have turned left off the downs ffs.

Sorry, its absolutely fking barmy!!
