1.4 SE 58k from new, we're the 2nd owners, full VW service history, trashed in one night by some scum the steering lock seems bust, the doors wont close for some reason, all the seats/doors slashed (why) and the alarm DID go off - sadly none of us heard it though
Now time to with the insurance over its value.....

I'm sorry to see that. Typical of the mindless vandalism seems to be so common in the UK now.
Have you reported it to the police? Good luck with the insurance, they will no doubt just value it as an older car and try to screw you on the pay out.
Yes we rang up and got a crime number. There was at least one other car done just up the road, a Corsa. As for the insurance, well thats what you pay for isnt it - a minimum payout!Have you reported it to the police? - hug* that's terrible! Why slash the seats?? WHY? Unless it's in vengeance.
They'd smashed the passenger window and slashed the tyre, thankfully had no time to nick anything. (yes I'd stupidly left stereo fascia on and at the time had just changed subs and had a 10" Alpine one on the rear seats! Thankfully undamaged.
Would have hated to have to claim (mates sorted it all out for free), did report to police but nada.

dammit...
what is it with scum and their desire to wreck anything anyone else has!
I know it sounds odd - but breaking in to steal a stereo or the car you can kinda understand (if not forgive) - but slashing the seats serves no comprehendable purposes what-so-ever...
scum..
Exactly right... no purpose at all. Excpet maybe it will give them something to giggle about in their stupid gormless way as they smoke their gangsta spliffs and drink diamond whitewhat is it with scum and their desire to wreck anything anyone else has!

I think it was Bomber Denton
Thanks for all your messages. I'm less pissed off now but still not happy. They came and took it away earlier and of course have said its a write off, so tonight i'll be trying to guess a value for it.

Really sorry to see this, it has to be one of the most pointless crimes that take place with zero regard for the holistic picture of grief it causes owners.
You'd love to catch 'em!

Scum Sub Human Scum
Tut tut, probably some problem child taking out his little tantrums, and god forbid you catch them in the act, well, give them a pat on the back and invite them in for a tipple, else and you will probably be pulled in front of the for GBH or something else which will infringe on the scroats humans rights etc etc If they did that to the car interior, theres no way i'd want to confront whoever it was.
Still waiting for post from the insurers, now where is that big red telephone....... We've bought the salvage back, borrowed a set of wheels and tyres and have removed it from the bodyshop. The insurers said if its put back on the road it needs an MOT as proof that its roadworthy again, well it passed that with just a pair of numberplates required (not related to this incident). The garage has organised a window and then it'll be sorted. It'll still be CatD but as its gonna be the lads car once he's passed his test he's more likely to prang it than anything else.

How unfortunate, the car was previously in such good condition. Glad you're getting it repaired as my Golf Mk3 has 100,000 more miles than yours and is still going strong!Still waiting for post from the insurers, now where is that big red telephone.......
