Not Happening: Honda Factory tour meet

In the other thread, A Honda Factory tour was mentioned as a good idea for a meet.

Sadly, it's not going to happen. This is the response I got from Honda today.

Honda said:

Dear Mr Xenocide

Thank you for your email regarding a visit to Honda of the UK Manufacturing
Ltd in Swindon.

At present our manufacturing facility is unable to facilitate tours,
although we are looking at the possibility of implementing a tour programme
in the next two or three years.

Although we would obviously like to assist you, we are unfortunately not in
a position at the present time to accommodate your request. We will,
however, keep your details on file for future reference.

it's a H & S issue,to implement a public tour requires a massive job to ensure health and safety are adhered to,and carried out and takes an age to plan and get up and running

Oh I didn't know you were asking! I already asked my contacts who work there and their response was along the lines of get yourself a job as a temp - it's the only way you'll get a full tour.....

I also asked my chum at Spyker, and alas because he's only started there this season and is in charge of a department of one, he's rushed off his feet. Maybe next year.

Last year we had a tour of the Lotus factory at Hethel, 100 other Esprit owners were there also. Fabulous weekend, evening dinner with the main man Mike Kimberley, guided tour of the factory, talks from the line managers who worked on the Esprit production line and finishing with a faw laps of the test track.

The Bentley Le Mans team is/was about 20 mins away from there too - closest I've been to Hethel track is test driving an RX7 on the roads surrounding it - which also seem to be very driveer friendly :P
