Hi guys,

My AC seems to of given up the ghost. The fault lies with the compressor, it just wont engage. The engine revs increase and the AC fan comes on but obviously the air is not cooled as the compressor is not engaging.

I have shorted out the low pressure sensor but the compressor did still not engage. Not sure if it should of, was just a try.

I am hoping it's just a case of low gas and needs discharging and refilling. It was working very well up untill the other afternoon where by it just stopped.

Anyway, I am looking for a reputable person who can diagnose and fix the fault. Doesn't have to be mobile or neccesarily in Bristol. Just fantastic at what they do and honest.

Any posters here do it even?

I did find him in the yellow pages but he seems to charge £135 for a regas where as most other places seem around £40-£50.

I do not mind paying a little extra for good service but 3 times as much is rather excessive to me.

He doesn't just do a regas though he does a full system service for that price. He also does a genuine metered regas not an "Oh look it's blowing cool that'll do".

He's very busy so can't be too bad

I always use Westlec for car electrical stuff, they're off the A38 in Filton. They sorted out the AC on my Bora last year, and the ABS and central locking/alarm on my VR6 the year before that.
