very very enjoyable day yesterday. dry but cold, the track was fantastic. better then Keevil or hullavinton. very quick corners, and an almost sprint section with slow corners. cannot say how good the track was.
if anyone has not been to Colern then you got to do.

plenty of cars from Nobles, Pug GTI rally cars, Porsche boxster, caterhams, westies, RX7 etc...

But the most impressive car of the day was the Smart car with a GXR1000 bike engine which right at the end of the day lost control and spinnned about 3 times over its roof. driver and passenger where fine but the smart was no so.

Have to agree - a bit chilly but great fun and excellent value. Pretty safe too - until you watched matey in the Smart go for a tumble! Full roll cage and harness saved the day but another story in a standard car I'm sure.

It was! Track day organisers universally dread the last hour of a day as concentration, tyres and commonsense all seem to take a nosedive!

I've been to a couple of MSE days at Colerne and enjoyed it. I find I usually leave before the end of the day due to being knackered anyway. Last time I was there, there were some "interesting" track cars - Volvo 240 estate, old Granada, that caused choas when they wiped out the little cones...

Nah, the LAST one I left coz my support van took away my slicks and I had bugger all grip on the road tyres (relatively anyway). The FIRST one I left coz I was a wuss paperbag

3-4 of us have been using MSE for a couple of years and are at Hulavington on the 20th April.
The events are fine but we've noticed that the guys that run it are not as flexable as they used to be and are more "by the book" especially about noise limits where there seems ro be zero tolerance.
And the drivers briefings are getting longer and it can be bl**dy cold on those airfields. Shame the Saturday events are booking so quickly and seem to attract a premium rate. Still, they are the only dependable bunch that work our corner of the country.
