sorry for the text speak title - too long to fit all of it in

Why the feck are pissing about again with road works on the M5 between Filton and Avonmouth?

They've only just opened the new lanes which seem to work quite well apart from the usual comedy filtering at the top, but no, they can't bloody leave the thing alone, and have stuck a five mile 40 limit on the blasted thing.

Oh, and lots of cameras look like they'll be going up...

I thought as I was early this morning I'd take the shorter route to work as it was clearer, but nope, I think I'll be sticking to the Bristol Autobahn that is the M49 - loads quicker and much nicer to drive down in the morning...

Grr!

I first drove round Bristol on the M5 on my way to University in Exeter in 1986. I cannot recall a single journey in the following twenty years when there weren't works of some kind somewhere around the Avonmouth crossing.

People have made careers out of it...

Replacing the lighting so the road is lit from either side. Apparently its a H&S issue.

confused H&S. How? why?

With numpty headlights it's good for 70, with decent bixenons and brakes it's good for 250mph.

When did you last see lamps at the edge of a motorway? Bit dodgy methinks!

however, why they couldn't have sorted this at the same time last time they had the road coned off I don't know.

This would require some common sense!...bet by the summer they'll ahve thoguht of somethin else to close half of it down for again.
I have to drive that stretch of the M5 twice a day, to get from Portishead up to filton....major pain in the arse!
they reckon it's gonna take until easter to finish too

At least next time the roadworks won't take so long. They'll be able to work at night now the lighting is better..rofl

work at night...nice, bet they don't. I go from Cibbs Causway to Gordano daily and this has pee'd me off. Only place I usally put my foot down is going up the hill, hearing the straight 6 sing. won't be doing that for a while.

My god can you believe it!! I thought they were laying some kind of equipment in preparation for road charging, never guessed we would be having street lamps either side!! So what about the other 99.999% that doesn't have lighting?

Where do they get the money from? The chief should be sacked or shot I think, what a waste of labour and money.

Why are you all so surprised, don't you recognise the signs of summer coming ? I've been up and down that stretch of motorway for over 30 years and as soon as Easter approaches they do something to b*lls it up. Quite funny really if you remember that the extra lanes were put in to speed things up, all it's done is provide entertainment watching the numpties with nowhere to go when lane 4 runs out.......................

are they replacing the central barriers with concrete now, or after this set of road works in say the summer time?
