Had a quick trip out on a few local lanes yesterday. It's still very very wet, so we're likely to do far more damage to the lanes than the whole "laning etiquette" thing would reccommend. If it stays dry for a week or two then i'd definitely be up for something.
Del, all my OS maps are for Gloucestershire and the surroundings, so you're welcome to the passenger seat in the rangie.

Top job, you're pretty local to me as well (I'm in Yate)
How offroad do you normally go - have you got snorkel / axle breathers etc?
For bikes have a look here www.ktrc.org.uk
or www.cornwalltrf.org.uk & look in the links page to find Devon, Somerset & others

Just read that post. Almost without exception, these idiots know nothing about cars. I never had any negative comments about the HSV's that I drove for 5 years. My last one even had V8 5.7 SUPERCHARGED badges on it.
Since driving my TDV6 Disco., I've had several comments along the "gas guzzler", "killing the planet" theme. Also had a fair amount of sarcastic head shaking (even when carrying 5 passengers & mud splattered all over it!). This is despite the fact that it averages 27mpg (30mpg on a run)& with the exception of our Smart, is by far the most economical vehicle I've owned for years. It's taller & a bit wider, but no longer than big estates & people carriers.
This idiot agrees that a 4X4 is o.k in the country, so does he think that all the rural people who depend on 4X4's (many of whom are skint) should buy a car for trips into a city?
Some amusing comments on this site.
