Can't help with the parts Corin, but I have an old book that you might find interesting - "The Ford Escort and Rallye Sport" by Jim Gavin (published in 1973).
You're welcome to borrow it for a while if you want...on the other hand, you might not! boxedin

Sorry, can't help with the parts, but planning to sell a whole car soon. '75 Mk1 Mex (genuine AVO type 49 car) with a 2.1 Andersen Racing Engines pinto, 5 speed etc. Very quick indeed ! Project car as it needs a bit of work. Very, very easy project though - front chassis rails need fixing mainly. Could be MOT'd and on the road for a couple of hundred quid or less, but I had planned to do a full job on it - strip, respray, detail etc. Mechanics perfect, doors, bonnet, sills, floor, bootlid etc rust free. Few bubbles around the headlights, rear arches need a bit of looking at. Extremely easy project for someone. My plans have changed so I'm gonna let it go - looking around £4000 and have been told by a por-restorer it's worth that easily. He'd have it himself if he didn't already have too many cars. Not advertised yet so if you know someone who might be interested they can have first look. PM me if you know anyone. Can see pics taken last year if you follow the link from "my cars" in my profile.
Cheers.

To be honest, I've never seen the book, I would love to thumb through it. A lot of the current publications are a bit of a much of a muchness that cater for the big retro market. I would lve to see a print of the times. yes
