I've also put this in "events" but as it's in our patch (I'm in Bath) I thought that a post in the South West forum would be appropriate

Saturday 28th October at Castle Combe is the Stroke Association Charity day.
A variety of racing, sports and exotic cars will be on hand to take people on hot laps around the Castle Combe racing circuit with all proceeds from the day going to the Stroke Association.

In addition to the on-track action, there's a lunchtime talk from Bob Dance, the former Chief mechanic of the Lotus F1 team. There's also a full autotest team in the paddock, Star FM broadcasting live on the day, a prize draw from "The Raceway" in Bristol and factory support from Marlin.

If you can, please come along & support this worthwhile charity.

I've been up for this day a number of times, and I have to say it's cracking! It can be easy to spend a fair amount of cash, but it's all in a good cause and when else are you going to get the opportunity to go sideways round quarry corner in a rally Healey 3000 with evil santa (aka John Chatham) at the wheel, as Mrs. Dan did a couple of years ago.

Hopefully I'll be there this year too.

Cheers Dan

I contacted the organiser of this event last year offering the me/my Tuscan racer, and no doubt I could have rustled up several Sagaris/Tuscans/Griffs etc, even though it was a little close to the date, but they had enough cars already booked.

So I left my contact details and that of the club office, but so far again there doesn't appear to be any need for any 3-400 hp TVR's to help out with the day.

U can lead a horse..........

Looks like it may be changeable on the weather front, which is a pain as I have yet to get the car out at Combe in the dry. Rains....every time I'm there in the car it bloody rains

It was also a wet Stroke Association day in 2004. Very cautious taking pasengers round in the Westfield. Here's a pic from 04

My "wets" this year are Avon CR500's and the "drys" are zero tread worn down A032's !!!
See you there on Saturday

I'm also looking nervously at the weather forecast. My "drys" are scrubbed (read bald) A032's and my "wets" are CR500's with abot 2mm of tread!

I went to this and had a good old laugh, even took my own car out for a handful of laps which was fun.

AtomicRex - I hope whatver happened to your RX wasn't serious and/or expensive. Best sounding car there by a country mile.

Will post some pictures when I eventually get my internet reconnected at home.

Thanks

And no wasn't too expensive! Shame it killed the day for us...we were just starting to get quick!!!

I do love the sound of the rotary engines....and the wastegate chatter just adds to it. Its one of the only cars Ive ever driven that makes me giggle each time I use the accelerator!!!

Hi guys , thanks for an enjoyable day,
Our M5 powered Landi was gagging for rain!! 4WD worked a treat..kind of. Welding up the rear diff made our vehicle ...........interesting.
I would be proud to say that we put a few vehicles to shame if it were not for my brother inlaw's countless encouters with the mud leaving most of it on the track. So sorry guys.!
