Is it me or are the multifarious speed restrictions on the M4 getting more and more confusing? It's bonkers! I really am spending the whole time looking at the speed restriction signs, they're constantly moving them around, and at one point M4 west just before J16 the there is an NSL sign at the end of some "roadworks" followed 100 yards later by another one for 50mph restriction then immediatly there's another NSL. They're all signed up for cameras but usually aren't, and now to cap it off yesterday new signs and cones appeared around J18 advising "Average Speed Cameras". What new devilry is this?
It's gettting frigging ridiculous - it's as if they're trying to cause crashes..
Grrrr...
TR6 enjoying life on the motorway though (Audi has gone tech)

Its a right pain in the 'arris to be sure.
Was buzzing along the M4 on Saturday, and some of the 50 signs were partially covered over and some not.
Looks like they were all supposed to be covered on one section, but the wind had been playing silly buggers with the coverings.
As a result, 1/2 the traffic was doing 50ish, 1/4 of it doing 80ish and the rest dithering somewhere in between.
Very confusing.
Plus, there seems to be a rash of NSL and "End" signs where there was no obvious restriction - gets tyhe old heart rate up a bit when you think "Have I just missed 10 miles of 50 limit?"

I gotta say that these days I just potter along at 50 or whatever the sign says, as to be honest, getting the extra 10 mph gets me nowhere quicker
I'm getting very paranoid about my license in my old age

Cruise control is very good for that. The issue here, though, was that nobody was certain whether the limit was in force or not. I chose to interpret it as "not" as some of the signs were clearly covered and the cones had all been moved to the far edge of the hard shoulder.
