Hi guys, it looks like our offer has been accepted, so I need a solicitor. Does anyone have any recommendations for people they've used?

Cheers

Last time we used Hugh Feeney - Blackboy Hill 9239477

Best to find one who knows the area where you're purchasing as they'll (a) know which searches are relevant off the top of their head and (b) will know all the estate agents. Tends to speed things up a bit...

Another vote for Ocean Property Lawyers. Head bloke, Jon Aldous sorted our freehold purchase - and got a few quid knocked off too!

Can you chaps imaprt some of your good knowledge to help my missus along with buying a house.

She'll be coming tommorrow, but I think that she is getting a bit disillusioned with it all - the house we wanted in Hanham is falling through as it needs a new roof at 15k but the vendors are not willing to concede any reductions.

Your words of wisdom I think would help, and also help her not think we are a bunch of sad car geeks.

Even though we are...

Thring Townsend in Bath. My mother's been working there for 20-odd years and they've always been excellent. One of their senior partners was even a director of my company for several years. Can't recommend highly enough.

Bottom line is that any offer is subject to survey. IMO just walk - the next buyer will hit exactly the same snag as soon as they get the survey done. If she's dead set on this house, let that last bit slip to the vendor.

Plus, as a 1st time buyer, your GF is is a very powerful bargaining position. Use it & abuse it as much as possible.

(by the way, Derek Robinson got it wrong- it's pronounced Bristull, not Brissle)

I would highly recomend Hugh Feeny, I have used him for years and he has never let me down.
He is excellent and cares about his clients unlike big firms.
